Microwave Safety Policy:  Microwaves are only to be used by students in Grade 3 and up. 

In our cafeteria, microwave ovens are available to warm lunches brought from home.  The microwave ovens are not provided to cook food.  This takes too much time and often the item is heated to an unsafe (hot) temperature.  Please note the following policies in our school:

·     Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 only are permitted to use microwave ovens.  Primary ,1 and 2 are not permitted to use ovens.

·     No cooking foods – Please precook frozen food at home and send in plastic container to be reheated.

·     No lunch products that requires the heating of liquids, usually instant noodles.(the boiling water is dangerous for all.)

·     No microwave popcorn.

·     Please review microwave operation with your child if you choose to send microwave food.
